Airport Crisis Social Worker

Location : Heathrow Airport, TW6 1BZ

Salary: £34,000 pro rata per annum plus LGPS Pension Scheme

Our client has an exciting opportunity for a Social Worker to join their unique Social Work airport team at Heathrow Airport . You will join them on a permanent, part-time basis , working 2 weekdays per week, and in return, they are offering a salary of £34,000 per annum pro rata, plus LGPS Pension Scheme.

Their new Social Worker willprovide an effective, responsive, and professional generic crisis Social Work service within the context of the aims and objectives of Heathrow Travel-Care and Social Work England's Code of Practice.

You will receive and respond appropriately to all referrals and requests made to Heathrow Travel-Care. These referrals will be working with vulnerable people including: those with Mental Health concerns, homelessness, deportees, repatriations, older people, victims of internet scams, returning distressed British National from abroad, destitute persons and more.

Tasks and Responsibilities of their Social Worker include:

* Receiving and assessing a variety of referrals including working with: Mental health, homelessness, deportees, repatriations and anyone in crisis or distress at Heathrow.

* Liaising with their partners at the Foreign Office regarding the safe return of distressed British Nationals.

* Engaging with casework and project work to agreed professional standards

* Working within agency guidelines, using initiative appropriately when working alone, and seeking advice/guidance from colleagues when necessary

* Retaining a critical awareness of issues identified through their work and to bring those issues to the attention of the team, as consistent with the aims and objectives of the agency and with regard to agency resources

* Retaining an up-to-date working knowledge of current legislation and guidance affecting Social Work practice and the day to day operation of the agency and consistently share this knowledge with the rest of the team

* Making and maintaining effective professional links with relevant agencies both on and off the airport.

* Undertaking training/development initiatives as required

* Participating in the agency's Emergency Response, as required, including briefing and debriefing

Their ideal Social Worker will be:

* Eligible to work in UK

* Qualified Social Worker registered with Social Work England

* Evidence of understanding of the role

* Understanding of working in the Voluntary and local authority sectors

* Minimum of 1 year post qualified social work experience

* Social work experience with at least 2 client groups including adults

* Evidence required skills listed in Job specification and Job description

* Experience of advocating for clients

* Excellent written and verbal communication skills

* Experience of chairing, planning, organising, and minute taking, meetings

* Problem-solving ability

* Passion for learning & professional development

* Evidence of working well in a team

* Be passionate about social work, have a record of upholding human rights, be an excellent communicator (verbally and in writing), be an effective online 'researcher', be an effective problem solver, have a 'can-do attitude', enjoy learning and embrace positive change

Hours: 2x weekdays a week - 8 hours a day. Very occasional out-of-hours work.
