I am seeking a degree qualified civil engineer, ideally with experience of working in a design consultancy, to join a successful consultancy in the Glasgow office. The job will require a motivated individual who is technically capable as well as a good communicator. Experience of working on rail projects would be an advantage.

Our client was established in 2006 and currently has 62 staff based in four offices (Glasgow, Edinburgh, York and London). Workload is 70% design work in the rail industry with the balance in transportation, energy, heavy civil engineering, and structural sectors.

A large proportion of the role will be working in the civils team, and you should, therefore, have design experience in some or all of the following: slope stability, foundation design, ground anchors, gravity and embedded retaining wall design, design of formwork, working platforms, culvert designs and report writing. The individual should have a sound technical background and be competent in the use of general MS Office, AutoCAD, Strand 7 or equivalent FE analysis software and Slope/W or equivalent. The ideal candidate should have a good knowledge of Eurocodes, British Standards and CDM Regulations.

The ideal Civil Engineer should be able to;

* Undertake concept & detailed design

* React quickly to emerging requirements

* Be able to communicate via clear and well-presented drawings

* Work efficiently to meet tight deadlines

* Technical review of designs

Qualifications

* Degree qualified in civil engineering (Ideally BEng/MEng min 2:1), working towards membership of ICE

* Clean driving licence.
