Position: Critical Electrical Engineer (Data Centre M&E)

Location: Essex

Salary: £50,000

Shift Pattern: Continental Shift (4 days on, 6 off, 4 nights, 4 off, 3 days, 3 nights, 4 off, rotating every 28 days)

Overview:

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a proactive and skilled Critical Electrical Engineer to join a state-of-the-art Data Centre in Essex. This role, within a specialist team, offers a modern and clean working environment, with extensive training and opportunities for career progression. You’ll be directly supporting a leading Data Hosting Company, ensuring the smooth and efficient operation of critical systems within the facility.

Key Responsibilities:

- Perform routine inspections and preventive maintenance on electrical systems, including generators, UPS systems, switchgear, and power distribution units.

- Conduct HV shutdowns and respond to electrical faults, troubleshooting and implementing corrective actions promptly to minimize downtime.

- Collaborate with other technical teams to ensure 24/7 operational uptime for the Data Centre.

- Ensure compliance with all health and safety regulations and company procedures.

- Maintain accurate records of inspections, maintenance, and repairs.

- Participate in shift-based operations to support the round-the-clock performance of the site.

Requirements:

- City & Guilds Level 3 Electrical Qualification

- Minimum of 3 years' experience in building services (preferably in critical environments such as Data Centres or banking facilities)

- Strong electrical systems knowledge, with hands-on experience in high-voltage (HV) and low-voltage (LV) systems

- Excellent client-facing skills and the ability to work as part of a team

- A proactive approach to problem-solving and maintenance
