Job Title: Deputy Shift Leader – Engineering

Reports to: Engineering Services Manager

Main Purpose:

To carry out Planned Preventative Maintenance (PPM), Reactive Maintenance, and extra works/emergencies in accordance with contract requirements on Electrical Services. The role includes acting as an Authorised Person HV when necessary.

Scope:

To focus on expected team behaviours to achieve significant results and outcomes for the business, maintaining a leading-edge status within the industry, and building a strong reputation with customers. Ensure adherence to Health and Safety at all times. Be responsive, cooperative, and achieve required tasks. Be part of a cohesive team providing high-level service to the client.

Key Responsibilities:

Compliance

- Perform PPM according to set schedules, ensuring engineering standards maximize operational effectiveness and reliability of plant and electrical systems.

- Adhere to engineering standards in compliance with Health and Safety at Work Act (HASAWA) requirements.

- Ensure onsite Quality Assurance procedures are followed and maintain accurate records/documentation for the electrical aspects of PPM and plant.

- Respond promptly and effectively to all electrically related reactive maintenance issues and help desk requests.

- Conduct technical surveys of services and systems, reporting findings to the Building Services Supervisor (BSS) and producing material cost lists for minor works.

General

- Coordinate initial actions for all client requests. Address customer inquiries and complaints, reporting actions taken to line management.

- Undertake follow-up actions to resolve situation circumstances as authorised.

- Participate actively in reviewing and implementing new techniques to enhance service to clients.

- Diagnose electrical faults related to PPM or Reactive maintenance of the site.

- Conduct minor installation work on services and systems.

- Repair and maintain lighting and distribution systems.

- Coordinate visiting specialist subcontractors for electrical aspects of PPM schedules and survey/accept new works by subcontractors.

- Perform duties in accordance with company procedures and client requirements to fulfil contractual obligations.

- Work with team members and other locations to establish contingency measures for full service availability during absences, providing cover at nearby sites as necessary.

- Undertake any required training to fulfil duties.

- Maintain test equipment and tools, ensuring they are fit for purpose at all times.

- Comply with instructions from BSS / CSM and undertake other duties as reasonably requested within your competence and experience.

Health, Safety & Environment

- Follow Safe System of Work in all required areas.

- Utilise the company's reporting system for accidents and near misses.

- Oversee all maintenance contract activities, ensuring safety aspects comply with site procedures and requirements.

- Assist in auditing systems, making yourself available for external audits.

- Regularly review Risk Assessments and Method Statements for your activities.

- Ensure all issued PPE is maintained in good order, reporting deficiencies to BSS.

- Support the BSS / CSM in promoting a zero-accident culture.

Personal Profile:

Skills - Essential

- Experience in a similar banking environment with multi-site locations.

- Knowledge of a wide range of building service systems and equipment.

- Sound Electrical and Mechanical knowledge.

- Familiarity with current Health and Safety legislation related to safe working practices.

- City & Guilds Parts 1 and 2 (Electrical Installation 2360) or equivalent.

- 17th Edition Institute of Electrical Engineers (I.E.E) Registration or equivalent.

- Electrical Apprenticeship in the building maintenance industry.

- Experience with maintenance duties, including fault diagnosis and rectification.

- Experience with Electrical aspects of general building PPM schedules.

- Experience with electrical installation work, plus electrical testing and inspection.

Skills - Desirable

- City & Guilds Part 3 (Electrical Installation 2360) or equivalent.

- Experience with permits to work (Authorised Person Electrical – High Voltage).

- Experience with Building Management Systems.

- Experience in business-critical environments.

- PASMA/IPAF certified.

- Effective communication skills, both oral and IT.

- Experience with computer PPM management systems.

- Experience with Uninterrupted Power Supply (UPS).

- Supervisory experience for future development.

- Proactive approach.

Working Hours:

- Operation hours will follow the allocated shift pattern. Shift cover and additional overtime may be required but will comply with the Working Time Directive.
