Job Title: Calibration Technician

PURPOSE OF THE JOB
The Calibration Technician will play a crucial role as a liaison with contractors and specialists, offering comprehensive calibration and instrumentation expertise. Initially, this involves collaborating with the principal contractor, creating documentation, and supporting the client in various aspects of Calibration and Instrumentation. Post the completion of the client campus, the role will focus on day-to-day service delivery, ensuring critical test equipment is maintained, coordinating with third-party suppliers, and optimizing system availability.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Provide a comprehensive Control and Instrumentation service for the entire site.
- Create site Calibration procedures and maintenance plans.
- Define equipment tolerances for plant equipment.
- Identify required test equipment and space requirements for calibration workspace.
- Ensure maximum availability of plant and user equipment through efficient planned maintenance.
- Provide technical support for projects, commissioning, and handover works.
- Complete planned preventative and client-requested calibrations.
- Diagnose field instrument issues and plan/complete required remedial work.
- Recognize spares requirements, order spares, and manage stock items as necessary.
- Ensure test equipment is sent to third-party suppliers as per the CMMS.
- Initiate and receive Permits to Work in accordance with procedures.
- Lead the generation of RCA’s and A3 investigations.
- Provide cross-account support when required, collaborating with different teams.
- Ensure completion of all Work Orders within contract metric timelines.
ACCOUNTABILITIES
- Reports directly to the Systems Manager and collaborates with the site management team as needed.
- No direct reporting staff or direct budgetary responsibility, but financial awareness is required.
PERSON SPECIFICATION
Education:
- Good basic education with proficiency in written and spoken English and basic mathematical skills.
Training:
- Formal Calibration and Instrumentation Bias Apprenticeship.
- HNC/HND Level within a relevant Engineering Field.
- cGXP Training.
Experience (Essential):
- 3 years of Calibration Maintenance experience within a regulated industry (Pharmaceutical, Food processing, etc.).
- Experience in writing Calibration Procedures.
Aptitudes:
- Good verbal and written communication skills.
- Excellent IT literacy.
