Environmental Health Officer / Senior Environmental Health Officer

Location : Grantham - Hybrid

Salary: SK14 - SK16 (£39,027 - £42,930 per annum)

The Role

The post holder will be part of a team delivering the council's environmental protection functions, including the investigation of statutory nuisance complaints, pollution control, environmental permitting, contaminated land investigation, stray dogs, public health (including rodent infestations, filthy and verminous premises and drainage issues), public health funerals, drainage, noise measurement and commenting on planning and licensing applications.

Additional responsibilities at top of grade: The post holder will also provide day to day supervision, advice, guidance and technical and developmental support to the environmental protection officers within the team.

Responsible to: Environmental Health Manager: Environmental Protection & Private Sector Housing

Skills and Qualifications for Environmental Health Officer role

* Minimum of 3 years practical experience.

* Evidence of training and or experience in some/all areas below:

* Environmental permitting

* Local air quality management

* Acoustics and Noise Control

* Contaminated land

* Successfully completed the relevant qualification and be EHRB registered.

* Hold or willing to work towards Achievement of the Diploma in Acoustics and Noise Control Measurement (Institute of Acoustics)

* Hold or be willing to work towards Achieve the Certification in Integrated Pollution, Prevention and Control (IPPC)

Skills and Qualifications for Senior Environmental Health Officer role

* Demonstrable experience as an Environmental Health Officer for 4 years post qualification

* Full attainment of the responsibilities and outcomes detailed in the job description (not including additional responsibilities)

* Hold a detailed technical knowledge and lead on at least one specialist area of environmental health

* Successful achievement of the Diploma in Acoustics and Noise Control Measurement (Institute of Acoustics)

* Demonstrable experience as an Environmental Health Officer for 5 years post qualification

* Attainment of a relevant Management Qualification

* Demonstrable assessment of competency and full completion of internal Development Log.
