Female Support Worker

Location : Billericay area, Essex

Salary: £15 per hour for day rate, £16 per hour waking night rate, National Living wage per sleeping night hours, Time-and-a-half for bank holidays.

The company is recruiting support workers to join an established team that provides 24/7 2:1 care and support to a profoundly disabled woman with a brain injury who lives in her own home in Billericay. Prior to her brain injury, the client enjoyed her life to the full. She still has a great sense of humour and aspires to outings to see live dancing troupes.

The Role

The client enjoys accessing her local community to enhance her quality of life, which suits her disability. She relies on full support in her wheelchair and all aspects of daily living from her Support Worker team. She undergoes regular therapy sessions to ensure she takes every opportunity to enjoy her life, especially her time spent with her family. The support workers play a key role in facilitating these experiences, as directed by her team of therapists.

2:1 care is 2 waking staff during the day and 1 waking and 1 sleeping at night.

Skills and Qualifications

* Passion and commitment for the role, with an opportunity to get to know the client and make a difference in her daily living.

* The ability to bring your strengths and interests to the team.

* Flexibility and availability to cover absences on a 4-weekly rolling rota Shift are 14 hours for days and 10-hour waking nights (8 am-10 pm/10 pm-8 am) and 24 hours for sleeping night shifts. Includes weekends.

* Previous experience would be an advantage; however, applicants with no experience but a willingness to learn may be considered. Training will be provided in therapeutic handling, hoisting/transfers, eating and drinking and personal care.

* Ability to communicate effectively as part of a team and on behalf of the client who is limited in communicating her needs for herself. Extensive and ongoing training provided.

* Enthusiasm to support the client's participation in social and leisure activities in various fun settings.

* Assist in reaching the client's specific goals as instructed and trained by the therapy team.

* Have up to date DBS at enhanced level - paid for by the employer if you need to apply.
