Financial Controller
Location : Lincoln
Salary: £50,000 - £75,000 per annum
We are seeking a dynamic and ambitious Financial Controller to join our growing business. As the Financial Controller, you will not only oversee the day-to-day financial operations but also act as a trusted advisor to senior leadership. Key responsibilities of the Financial Controller:
* Leadership: Manage, mentor, and develop a small finance team, fostering a culture of collaboration and high performance.
* Financial Reporting: Prepare accurate and timely financial statements, ensuring compliance with regulatory standards.
* Strategic Contribution: Provide insightful financial analysis and recommendations to senior management, supporting strategic decision-making.
* Budgets & Forecasting: Lead the annual budgeting and forecasting process, aligning financial plans with business objectives.
* Cash Flow Management: Monitor and optimise cash flow, working capital, and liquidity to ensure the financial health of the business.
* Internal Controls: Implement and maintain robust financial controls to safeguard company assets and ensure compliance.
* Taxation & Compliance: Oversee tax filings and ensure adherence to UK tax laws and reporting requirements.
* Audit Management: Coordinate with external auditors to ensure smooth year-end audits.
* Ad-Hoc Projects: Support senior management with financial projects, system improvements, and business initiatives.
Qualifications & Skills for the Financial Controller:
* Professional qualification (ACA, ACCA, CIMA, or equivalent)- Part-qualified candidates with strong, relevant experience will also be considered.
* Proven experience in a Financial Controller role or similar senior finance position.
* Strong leadership and team management skills, with the ability to inspire and develop others.
* Excellent financial analysis and reporting skills, with the ability to translate data into actionable insights.
* Proficiency in financial software and advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
* Solid understanding of UK tax regulations, including VAT, corporation tax, and PAYE.
* Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence and collaborate at all levels.
* Ambitious mindset, with the drive to grow into a Finance Director role.
Desirable skills for the Financial Controller:
* Experience with financial systems implementation or upgrades
* Knowledge of payroll and pension schemes
* Experience in a fast-paced or growing business environment
