Job Title: Graduate Town Planner

Location: Bristol

Role Overview

My client is seeking a motivated and ambitious Graduate Town Planner to join their dynamic team in Bristol. The ideal candidate will have a keen interest in planning. This role offers the chance to develop professionally in a supportive environment, working alongside experienced planners and gaining exposure to a diverse portfolio of planning work.

Key Responsibilities

- Assist with the preparation and submission of planning applications, appeals, and other related documents.

- Contribute to the preparation of development plans and reports, including planning policy assessments.

- Conduct site appraisals and research planning policies, regulations, and case law to support the preparation of planning strategies.

- Prepare and maintain client correspondence, project documentation, and relevant planning records.

- Engage in public consultation activities and liaise with local authorities, developers, and stakeholders.

- Support the team in carrying out assessments, site visits, and preparing reports for various stages of planning projects.

- Contribute to the preparation of presentations and planning evidence for planning committees and inquiries.

- Keep up-to-date with changes in planning legislation, policy, and best practices.

Key Requirements

- A degree in Town Planning or a related discipline that is accredited by the Royal Town Planning Institute (RTPI).

- Relevant work experience, whether through internships, work placements, or previous positions in a planning environment, is desirable.

- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to effectively present complex planning matters.

- An understanding of UK planning legislation and the planning application process.

- Excellent organisational skills and the ability to manage multiple projects with attention to detail.

- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, GIS, and other relevant software.

- A proactive attitude with the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
