Location : Cambridge

Salary: £27,939 - £33,733 per annum (Depending on experience and qualifications)

The Role

The IT Helpdesk Technician role is a technical position within the IT department, acting as the main point of contact for daily technical enquiries. Collaborating with another IT Helpdesk Technician, this role will offer diverse support across all three school sites. Additionally, this role involves assisting senior team members with various technical projects. As a member of the support staff, the IT Helpdesk Technician's ultimate line manager will be the Bursar, however day to day responsibility will be to the IT Operations Manager.

Key Responsibilities

* Deliver outstanding customer-focused support to a diverse and dynamic user community

* Install, upgrade, configure and support Microsoft platforms using tools like Intune

* Provide hardware and software assistance for desktop and laptop computers, as well as printers, photocopiers and telephones

* Troubleshoot, diagnose and resolve issues related to IT equipment and network infrastructure, including user errors and hardware/software faults

* Take proactive measures to prevent common, recurring or foreseeable issues

* Manage user accounts, passwords and security permissions through Active Directory

* Support audio-visual equipment, including display screens and auditorium projectors

* Create and maintain documentation such as guides, procedural documents, reports and asset registers

* Perform administrative tasks and other functions to ensure the smooth operation of the IT department

* Promote and safeguard the welfare of children and young persons for whom you are responsible and with whom you come into contact

Skills and Qualifications

* Good general level of education with GCSE level qualifications in English and Maths

* Experience in similar IT Helpdesk environments

* Ability to prioritise tasks daily

* Ability and willingness to learn new skills and roles

* Excellent problem solving skills and initiative

* A strong knowledge of PC hardware, Windows platform and application support

* Knowledge of audio-visual equipment

* Good communication, organisational and interpersonal skills

* Empathy for pupils, staff and the community

* Flexibility and adaptability

* The ability to work collaboratively and supportively with colleagues within school

* The ability to work both independently and as part of a team
