Laboratory Analyst

Location : Bartley SO40 2LH (On-site based position)

Salary: Competitive salary based on experience

Our client, founded in 2022, is a privately owned, independent analytical laboratory based in Bartley near Southampton, Hampshire, UK. Laboratory specialises in analysis of Dioxins/Furans, PCBs, PFAS (including PFOS and PFOA testing) and other Persistent Organic Pollutants in environmental samples such as: soil, ash, sediment, sludge and waters (effluent, surface and ground).

The Role

* Perform technical tasks in line with VLS Ltd procedures.

* Oversee day-to-day instrument operations.

* Calibrate all laboratory equipment as required.

* Conduct and record routine instrument maintenance.

* Process, calculate, and verify analytical results.

* Assist with sample preparation for various analyses (method development part).

* Conduct regular QC reviews.

* Report any anomalies or QC issues to the quality manager, ensuring accurate documentation.

* Suggest procedural improvements when errors or recurring problems arise.

* Train and assess colleagues in VLS Ltd procedures.

* Ensure all work adheres to UKAS and VLS Ltd QMS standards.

* Follow VLS Ltd safety policies, with particular attention to protective clothing requirements.

* Maintain high housekeeping standards.

* Perform any other reasonable tasks as required for the role.

Skills and Qualifications

The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience with GC-MS QQQ and GC-MS, including troubleshooting and maintenance.

Experience in method development and validation is a plus, as is the ability to assist in other areas of the lab as needed.

Desired Skills:

* Minimum 1-year experience as a Laboratory Analyst.

* Familiarity with Agilent GC-MS QQQ and MassHunter software is a plus.

* Strong organizational and methodical skills.

* Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment.

* Capable of working independently while being a strong team player.

* Able to meet tight deadlines effectively.
