Job Title: Haematology/Transfusion Biomedical Scientist Band 6 Location: Glasgow Duration: 3-month rolling contract with potential for extension Schedule: Monday - Sunday, 37.5 hours per week (core hours initially to then be moved to 24/7 rota once competencies complete) Start Date: ASAP Rate of Pay: £ Competitive hourly rates per hour DOE (umbrella equivalent)
What You'll Be Doing:
As a Haematology/Transfusion Biomedical Scientist, you will be a vital part of a busy laboratory, contributing to high-quality diagnostic services. Your main responsibilities will include:
Conducting a range of haematology and transfusion laboratory tests
Preparing and analysing blood samples for diagnostic purposes
Performing blood group testing, crossmatching, and other transfusion-related tests
Ensuring high standards in lab procedures and compliance with regulations
Supporting quality control initiatives
Collaborating with multidisciplinary teams to enhance patient care
Requirements & Qualifications:
To succeed in this role, you will need:
HCPC Registration as a Biomedical Scientist
IBMS Accredited Degree
1-2 years of experience in a Haematology laboratory, with Transfusion experience preferred
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
A strong commitment to high-quality laboratory services
Full right to work in the UK (we are unable to provide sponsorship)
Working Hours & Contract Duration:
The role operates Monday to Friday, 37.5 hours per week, initially core hours (9:00 - 17:00) to then move to a 24/7 rota once competencies are signed off. The contract will last for an initial 3 months, with the possibility of extension based on performance and service needs.
