Penguin Recruitment is delighted to be supporting a forward thinking planning consultancy who are seeking a Planning Director to join the senior leadership team. As a key member of the leadership team, you will have the opportunity to make a significant impact-driving business growth, managing high-profile projects in a variety of sectors such as residential, mixed-use, renewables, infrastructure and commercial.
The Role
In this varied and rewarding role, you will:
* Drive business growth by prospecting, engaging, and securing work with new clients, aligned with our vision and growth trajectory.
* Manage client relationships and stimulate new project opportunities from existing clients.
* Lead and direct projects, including managing large-scale developments and planning appeals, ensuring successful delivery from inception to completion.
* Contribute strategically to the development and expansion of our innovative service offerings, particularly in sustainability and urban planning.
* Coordinate and manage specialist external consultants, public consultations, and project reports.
* Act as Sustainability Champion on major projects, providing strategic advice on sustainable development and planning practices.
* Cultivate a supportive, inclusive, and collaborative work culture, fostering a diverse and positive environment.
Requirements:
We are looking for a Chartered Town Planner (MRTPI), currently at Director or Associate Director level, who is eager to take on a leadership role with a high level of autonomy. You should bring a strong entrepreneurial spirit and a proven ability to win new work, manage client relationships, and lead multidisciplinary teams.
Ideal candidates will have:
* A proven track record of winning work and developing client relationships in the planning and development sectors.
* Experience leading a range of development projects, with expertise in UK planning authorities and the planning process.
* Strong experience in business development-stimulating organic growth, bringing in new clients, and contributing to the overall success of the business.
* Excellent project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects and teams.
* A passion for sustainability and an interest in innovative planning solutions, including renewable energy projects.
* Leadership experience, with the ability to mentor and coach junior colleagues.
* Strong communication, written, and IT skills to liaise effectively with clients and internal teams.
