About the Role

We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Learning Support Assistant (LSA) to join our supportive and dynamic team at a well-established SEMH (Social, Emotional, and Mental Health) school in Southend. This is an exciting opportunity to work with students aged 7-16 who have a range of social, emotional, and mental health needs. You will play a vital role in providing tailored support, fostering a positive learning environment, and helping students to achieve their full potential.

Key Responsibilities

* Provide 1:1 and small group support for students with SEMH needs, both in and outside the classroom.

* Assist in the development and implementation of Individual Education Plans (IEPs).

* Support students in overcoming barriers to learning, using positive behaviour strategies and interventions.

* Promote the emotional well-being and social development of students.

* Work closely with teachers, SENCO, and other support staff to create an inclusive and nurturing learning environment.

* Help students build confidence, self-esteem, and resilience.

* Observe and record students' progress and behaviours, contributing to regular reports and reviews.

The key qualities we seek include:

* A strong commitment to supporting vulnerable students.

* Excellent communication skills, both with students and colleagues.

* Ability to work effectively as part of a team.

* Calm and patient demeanour, with the ability to handle challenging situations.

* A positive attitude and a proactive approach to learning and development.

Qualifications

* Level 2/3 Teaching Assistant qualification or equivalent (desirable but not essential).

* Experience working with children or young people in an educational or care setting is beneficial.

* Team Teach or similar behaviour management training (desirable, but training can be provided).

What We Offer

* A supportive and welcoming team environment.

* Ongoing professional development opportunities.

* Access to training in SEMH, safeguarding, and behaviour management.

* The opportunity to make a real difference in the lives of students.
