SEN Cover Supervisor

This role is ideal if you need a flexible working pattern but are still keen to work in educational setting for the progression and development of children with special educational needs. This school has a great environment and facilities to conduct beneficial lessons.

A specialised SEMH based school in Crawley teaches the ages of 11-16 and is searching for an organised and motivated SEN Cover Supervisor to work on a day to day basis to teach children with moderate learning difficulties and additional mental health needs. This school needs an experienced, positive, dynamic and enthusiastic Cover Supervisor with experience of TEACCH, PECS, MAKATON, Intensive Interaction and Attention Autism.

Responsibilities for an SEN Cover Supervisor:

* Supervise classes during teacher absences, ensuring that students remain on task with the work set by the teacher.

* Manage classroom behavior and create a positive learning environment.

* Support students in understanding and completing the work provided.

* Work collaboratively with teaching staff and other cover supervisors to ensure smooth lesson transitions.

* Provide feedback to teachers about the progress and behavior of students during their absence.

* Assist with other duties as required by the school, such as exam invigilation or supporting small group work.

Qualifications and Skills for an SEN Cover Supervisor:

* Experience of teaching pupils with Severe Learning Difficulties, teaching in an SEN environment, through trainee placements or FT employment, pupils with PMLD, including sensory impaired.

* Experience using Makaton, TEACCH and PECS, Intensive Interaction and Attention Autism.

* Previous experience working in an educational setting is desirable but not essential.

* Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

* Ability to manage classroom behavior effectively.

* A flexible and adaptable approach to work.

* A genuine interest in working with young people and contributing to their academic success.
