SEN Teaching Assistant - Graduate

From January 2025, a local primary school is needing a SEN Teaching Assistant to work 1:1 with a student with Global Development Delay. This student has challenges to keep up with the Year 2 classwork, as they work at a lower academic level.
You will need to bring a new sense of enthusiasm to the classroom for this Didcot student, as they get fustrated from not being able to express themselves. The role will involve 1:1 sessions in the KS1 classroom and taking the student out for interventions to focus on more specific work tailored by the Year 2 class teacher. The Year 2 student is has a gentle attitude but can have outburst due to fustrations, you must be confident to calm and deal with any negative behaviours.
Knowleage of a SEN background, from SEMH, behavioural issues, children in care, ADHD and not limited to any physcial and learning difficulty is essential. Suitable for graduates in psychology, therapy and counselling.

* Role: SEN Teaching Assistant
* Location: Didcot
* Start Date: January 2025
* Pay: £83 - £90 per day (dependent on experience, qualifications, and training).
* Contract: Long-term temporary, with the potential for permanent opportunities.
* Hours: Full-Time, Monday to Friday, 8:30 am - 3:30 pm.
* Experience: Desired but not essential; enthusiasm and a positive attitude are key.
Key Responsibilities:
* Support the specific Didcot Year 2 SEN student with their academic development through tailored interventions.
* Assist the class teacher in managing behaviour and providing a safe learning environment.
* Work alongside the student's experienced therapists and psychologists to implement therapeutic strategies in the EHCP.
* Build strong, trusting relationships with students to help them regulate emotions and overcome challenges.
* Adapt communication and learning approaches to suit individual needs.
SEN Teaching Assistant Requirements:
* A Level 3 qualification or above (Degree-level qualifications are highly desirable).
* Experience working with children or vulnerable individuals (personal or professional).
* Resilience, adaptability, and a proactive approach.
* A genuine interest in mental health and supporting young people.
* Driving licence is a bonus to commute to and from Didcot.
