Senior Structural Engineer - Leeds

Salary: Up to £50,000
I am seeking an enthusiastic and driven Senior Structural Engineer with a background in handling insurance claims and a strong desire to advance in structural engineering based in Leeds. As a senior team member, you will manage your own projects, supervise intermediate and graduate engineers, and be involved in project budgeting, client engagement, and collaboration with other consultants. The role requires flexibility, a keen eye for detail, and willingness to travel throughout the North and Midlands.
Key Responsibilities for this Senior Structural Engineer:
* Conduct structural surveys and inspections to assess building defects, particularly for insurance claims.
* Oversee building repair and refurbishment projects, managing day-to-day activities, coordinating with engineers and surveyors, and reporting to the associate/director.
* Handle project budgets, client communication, and manage projects from initial surveys through to contract administration.
* Prepare technical design information, including drawings, specifications, calculations, and reports.
* Review and approve design documents, ensuring quality control throughout.
* Manage feasibility studies, produce detailed reports, and oversee small to medium project budgets.
* Collaborate with clients, authorities, and design team members.
* Supervise junior team members, assisting in their development.
* Prepare bids, proposals, and design reports, and contribute to business development efforts.
* Manage external sub-contractors and coordinate investigative works.
* Attend design and site meetings, record actions, and oversee site inspections.
Essential Skills and Qualifications for this Senior Structural Engineer:
* Degree in Civil or Structural Engineering
* Strong grasp of engineering principles with the ability to design concrete, steel, timber, and masonry structures.
* Familiarity with British Standards/Eurocodes and an understanding of complex construction processes.
* Proficiency in design software, Microsoft Office, and a full driving license.
* Experience in delegating, supervising, and mentoring junior staff, with good organizational and time management skills.
