Specialist Support Staff - ASD Provision

Location: Croydon, London

Contract Type: Long Term

Salary: Competitive (depending on experience)

About Us:

Academics are in partnership with Primary Schools around Croydon who are launching dedicated Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) provisions within their schools. We are seeking passionate, experienced, and empathetic staff to join our team and provide specialized support to Primary Schools on a long term basis.

Key Responsibilities:

* Provide one-to-one and group support for students with ASD, using tailored teaching strategies and interventions

* Assist in creating and maintaining a structured, supportive, and stimulating learning environment

* Work closely with teachers and support staff to develop individualized education plans (IEPs) and strategies for students

* Promote positive behaviour management and emotional regulation strategies for students with ASD

* Support students in their communication, social interaction, and sensory needs

* Collaborate with parents, caregivers, and external professionals to ensure continuity of care and support

* Contribute to the safeguarding and overall wellbeing of the children in the provision

Requirements:

* Experience working with children with ASD or other special educational needs (SEN) in an educational or care setting

* A strong understanding of autism and related challenges

* Patience, empathy, and the ability to build trusting relationships with students

* Experience with behaviour management and supporting emotional wellbeing

* Excellent communication skills and the ability to work as part of a multidisciplinary team

* Relevant qualifications in education, psychology, or SEN (preferred but not essential)

* An understanding of safeguarding and child protection (training provided)
