Academics are currently recruiting for a Primary School in Thornton Heath - Ofsted judged the school as 'OUTSTANDING' for Behaviour and Attitudes, Personal Development, Early Years Provision and Leadership and Management as well as 'GOOD' for the Quality of Education. The Role will be 5 x days a week.
Role Overview: Teaching Assistant - Early Years SEN Provision - Thornton Heath, Croydon
We are looking for an enthusiastic and motivated Teaching Assistant to support their Early Years Special Educational Needs (SEN) Provision. The role will be supporting the Early Years Students from Reception & Yr 1 who have a diagnosis of Autism or a profile of Autism.
Key Responsibilities: Teaching Assistant - Early Years SEN Provision - Thornton Heath, Croydon
* Assist with the delivery of learning activities and tailored interventions for children with SEN.
* Provide one-to-one and small group support, adapting resources and activities to meet the individual needs of each child.
* Help children develop social, emotional, and communication skills, ensuring a positive and inclusive learning environment.
* Support children in their physical and personal care needs where appropriate.
* Work collaboratively with the teacher, SENCO, and other staff members to monitor and track children's progress.
* Assist with the preparation and organisation of learning resources and classroom materials.
* Support children during playtime and extracurricular activities, promoting positive behaviour and social skills.
* Help implement individualized education plans (IEPs) and other specific strategies tailored to children's needs.
Key Skills and Qualifications: Teaching Assistant - Early Years SEN Provision - Thornton Heath, Croydon
* Previous experience working with children, preferably in an Early Years or SEN setting, is desirable.
* A genuine passion for supporting children with special educational needs.
* Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with children, staff, and parents.
* Patience, empathy, and a proactive approach to problem-solving.
* A willingness to learn and a commitment to professional development.
* Experience or knowledge of supporting children with communication, learning, or behavioural difficulties is an advantage.
