Job Title: Town Planner
Location: Northampton
Salary: Up to £31,200 per annum (Pro-rata)
Hours: Part-time (15-22.5 hours per week / 2 to 3 days per week)
My client, a well-established Architects and Planning Consultancy based in Northampton, is seeking an enthusiastic and skilled Town Planner to manage their Planning Department. With a reputation for delivering high-quality, professional schemes across a wide range of sectors, they are looking for someone to take the next step in their career by overseeing and managing their planning operations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage your own caseload of planning projects, with support from the Directors.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, ensuring a high level of satisfaction.
- Collaborate closely with the architectural team to inform design and planning strategies.
- Lead and manage the planning department, providing guidance and support where necessary.
- Handle a variety of planning applications across different sectors including:
- Care homes, residential developments (including one-off houses and social housing), industrial buildings, barn conversions, and permitted developments.
- Ensure all projects comply with planning regulations and are delivered within agreed timelines.
The Ideal Candidate for Town Planner:
- A degree in Planning or a related discipline.
- RTPI membership or working towards it (desired but not essential).
- Strong client-facing skills with the ability to build and nurture professional relationships.
- Excellent communication, presentation, and negotiation skills.
- Ability to work autonomously and as part of a collaborative team.
- Previous private sector planning experience is desirable but not essential.
- Eagerness to develop professionally and grow into a leadership role within the department.
