Urban Designer - Birmingham

Location: Birmingham, UK

Position: Urban Designer to Senior Urban Designer

My client, a well-established and innovative design consultancy, is seeking a talented and creative Urban Designer to join their team in Birmingham. The company works on a range of exciting urban design projects, from large-scale regeneration schemes to smaller-scale interventions, and is committed to shaping the future of our cities through impactful design.

Key Responsibilities:

* Lead and contribute to urban design projects, from initial concepts to delivery.

* Develop masterplans, urban frameworks, and detailed design proposals.

* Collaborate with internal teams and external stakeholders to create design strategies that are sustainable, inclusive, and responsive to the needs of the community.

* Conduct site analysis and produce design solutions that integrate sustainability, accessibility, and social inclusivity.

* Prepare design documentation, reports, and visuals for client presentations, planning applications, and public consultations.

* Support project management tasks and assist in coordinating teams across disciplines, including architecture, planning, and engineering.

Key Skills and Experience:

* A degree in Urban Design, Architecture, Planning, or a related field.

* Proven experience in urban design with a portfolio that demonstrates your ability to create sustainable and innovative urban spaces.

* Strong understanding of urban design principles, planning policies, and design guidelines.

* Proficiency in design software (AutoCAD, SketchUp, Adobe Creative Suite, etc.).

* Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to present and articulate design concepts to clients and stakeholders.

* Strong problem-solving abilities and a proactive approach to managing projects.

* Knowledge of the Birmingham area and experience working on local or regional projects would be advantageous.
